AP Exam Registration Information
Register now so that in the spring your host school or testing center will be able to administer the exam for you.
You will need to register with a school or testing site to take the AP Chemistry exam
You have already received your Join Code by email. If you have not recieved your Joine Code send me a note an I will resend it to you.Next you must find a testing location and register for the exam at that site.
Once you have registered for the exam, the school will be able order the hybrid AP Chemistry exam materials for you.
Then in May, you will be able to take the Digital portion of the test using the Bluebook™ software and have AP Chemistry exam answer booklet for the FRQ at your host school or testing center.
I will keep nagging you for the next two months to register for the exam before the mid-November deadline.
If you are in a brick & mortar school's AP Chemistry class, the school will take care of your AP Chemistry exam and you don't have to read any further.
If you are a homeschooler or your brick & mortar school will not administer your AP Chemistry exam, you will need to find a testing site and have the AP Coordinator for the host school order register you for the exam.
The following will help you with that process:
Go to the College Board Site for their advice
I'm homeschooled/my school doesn't administer AP Exams. How can I take an AP Exam?
Your local school is your first option.
If your local school can order and administer the AP Chemistry exam, the AP Coordinator will use your Join Code to enroll you in their Exam-Only Roster and you will take your exam along with the school's other students. The only difference will be that your score on the exam will not reported to the host school.
The details of the procedure are shown in the AP Coordinators Handbook (skip to the homeschoolers administration instructions).
If the coordinator doesn't want to set up an Exam-Only Roster and insists that you enroll in the school's roster, that's fine. But, you will need to send me a note to remove you from my AP Chemistry roster.
If your local school will not administer your AP Chemistry exam, you will need to find another testing site.
The College Board has advice for students who need to find a testing site.
Also, I have a database of schools and testing centers that were willing to host our students in the past.
- This interacive map includes locations that our students have found for testing.
- Let me know if you have found a testing location that is not already on the map so that I can add it.
This advice on how to persuade a school to adminster the AP test for you is worth reading carefully.
It may be difficult finding a testing site but be persistent. I have taught for many years, and almost all our students have been able to find a testing site, even in remote locations like Kyrgyzstan.
